Our hybrid Health Care Assistant with Co-op diploma program combines online learning with in-class instruction at our Victoria campus, culminating in an immersive 495-hour paid co-op placement. Graduate in less than one year!
You will learn to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to help provide care, emotional support and physical assistance to clients who are recovering from surgery, injury or illness. Our program includes courses in such essential topics as personal care and assistance, common health challenges, cognitive and/or mental health challenges and effective communication.
A paid co-op placement gives you the opportunity to apply your new skills while gaining valuable insight from experienced healthcare workers. Upon graduation, will be prepared to assist with nursing care, taking vital signs, documenting health information, observing and reporting changes in a patient’s symptoms or behaviour and assisting with daily tasks that involve mobility, feeding, medication and more. You can explore opportunities in a variety of settings, including acute care, home support, complex care, assisted living and more!
